A tale of two cranes! The white one is on the quay at Hobart, as a museum exhibit. It is a steam driven crane that was obviously used to load and offload ships. I have distorted the lattice boom for compositional purposes. The other crane is a view of the boom head, of a mobile telescopic unit, belonging to Abbey Cranes on Concorde Rd. The background is of a hay bale that has been wrapped in plastic, and been crimped with a hot clamp that leaves the end shrivelled up, as you can see. The title just came out of the blue,…as usual!
