I was fascinated by the array of designs, and shapes of T.V. ariels. So I went around and collected a photographic ‘library’ of them. I must have had at least sixty to sort through and select, and ended up with twenty two. It took a long time separating them from their backgrounds, and arranging them. I had settled for the landscape shot, which is a view of Blaenau Ffestiniog, looking down from the slate workings. It was a grey, foggy day which suited the mood of the picture. Can you see the two seagulls, photographed separately, and stuck onto the ariels. Of course, the ariels will soon be a historical curiosity.
